- All pilots (Club Members) must sign in and out from the registration/visitor’s book by completing all the details listed. This must be completed on arrival and before leaving.
- The fire extinguishers must be positioned at each end of the current active pilot box and returned to the container at the end of the days flying. This includes the control line, helicopter and float flying areas.
- All pilots flying RC controlled models are to stand behind the pilot box encloser for taxiing for take-off, flying and landing.
- The flying of models behind the pilot box is not permitted. Do not ever fly behind the pilot box.
- Flight /Safety Observer (CASA requirement).
- When flying above 400 ft (AGL) the pilot must have a Fight / Safety Observer to assist in the primary operational area
- The position of the safety observer must allow all pilots to be able to communicate and hear any direction provided by the observer
- Pilots may have one observer for each pilot or one central observer located on the flight line
- Any member or adult person may act as an observer to assist the pilot in the management of the flight envelope
- If a human-occupied aircraft is seen entering the operation area, the model aircraft pilot will take immediate action by either landing the model safely on the ground or move to the opposite end of the operational flying area so clear passage can be provided.
- When flying above 400 ft (AGL) the pilot must have a Fight / Safety Observer to assist in the primary operational area
- Control line / Helicopter models can only be flown behind the flight line within the designated Areas.
- Flying is NOT PERMITTED on days of TOTAL FIRE BAN.
- Firefighting equipment is always to be maintained and ready for use at the field.
- No rubbish is to be left at the field. Take your rubbish home.
- The consumption of alcohol by pilots is NOT permitted before or during the operation of aircraft as per CASA regulations. All pilots must have 0% blood alcohol level whilst in control of any RC aircraft and includes control line and free flight models. (MOP055)
- Club members will familiarise them self with (MOP056) Safe Flying Code.
- Vehicles are to be parked within the designated areas only.
- It is the responsibility of all club members to ensure visiting pilots have a current MAAA FAI card or proof of paid fees (their club receipt) within the current financial year and are fully conversant with the club flying rules that are posted inside the club container and club registration/visitors book.
- Persons without current MAAA Membership FAI card or their respective club receipt (proof of payment) are not permitted to operate model aircraft of any type. (Excluding persons having a try at model aircraft flying under MAAA visitor’s guidelines). (MOP042)
- All inexperienced flyers or visitors must be accompanied by an experienced & competent club member while operating any type of model. Until such time of achieving Silver wings or above.
- Battery and range checks must be completed each day prior to the first flight of each RC model.
- Other than 2.4 you must check with other pilots to see what frequency they are using as we Do not have a frequency board! for 36 or 29 MHz. (MOP049)
- Models can be started or armed (electric) only in the start-up area (the region from the western-edge of the main runway to a distance of 6m towards the car park). Models must be properly restrained whilst starting and running of engines in the start-up area.
- Models cannot be started, run, or armed (electric) in the PIT area (the region from the western-edge of the start-up area to the carpark).
- Models must not be taxied off the runway towards or into the start-up area. Models must be physically retrieved off the runway whilst oriented along the runway.
- Whilst in the vicinity of the flight line all pilots will observe correct etiquette and check with other pilots on the flight line before commencing take-offs, landings or entering the runway via clear communications with other pilots at the pilot box. Upon exiting from the active runway pilots should inform other pilots they are clear of the runway.
- All flying must be conducted via the designated circuit established by the first flight or current circuit. Changing the circuit can occur if pilots that are present at the active pilot’s box agree to do so.
- No mobile phones in the start-up area or in the pilot box. (Exception to this rule is if the phone is in FLIGHT MODE)
- The MAAA strongly recommends that as a minimum, dogs shall not be at a flying field without being on a leash and are NOT allowed in the pits, pilot box or runway area during flight operations. (MOP063)
- It is the responsibility of the last person leaving the field to ensure the following occurs
- fire extinguishers are put away,
- toilets and container doors are closed,
- sprinklers are placed back on the runway or pit area,
- no water taps are left running,
- no fires are left burning,
- roadside gates are closed and locked.
