Photos by: Michael Whelan As you have would have seen by the reports, our display day at the Ballan Tractor Pull was another successful event. We did not have as many pilots as last year, but there were plenty of models on display. From electric foameys’ to turbines were represented on the day. Thank you to Peter (PVA) for once again, bringing so many models in one trailer. Yes, each model has a place and you dare not forget where in the trailer they go otherwise the whole system goes askew. Nice work. As per normal we had many visitors during the course of the day including many children. We did not have the lolly dropper this year, but we hope next year it will make an appearance again. Kids love those lollies from the sky. We also had Moorabool Shire Council come out to see how we operated and to observe how our models operate. The Council was very impressed as we showed everything from a J3 Club flown by Doug Henwood, Peter Stefurak with his Beast and Ken Mollison starting up the big Xcalibur Plus. The show was first class and plenty of questions were asked. This of course was all about the planning permit for the new land and the subsequent meeting held by the council. As we know, the meeting went very well with all questions answered accordingly to the objections we had. Good job to all who took part in the event and donated their time. It is important for the Club to hold events like this and showcase our fantastic sport to the public. The weather itself was near perfect on the day as we normally experience hot and dusty conditions as it is hot in February. Not this year. Great weather all day. This was made even better with our new PA system. This really worked very well and kept locals in the loop in what we were doing on the flight line. The raffle this year was a cracker with a trainer, radio and engine all donated by Club Members. Michael has acknowledge the sponsors in his report but appreciation again must go to Ken, Don and Garry T. The Club made a good profit on the day based on the sponsor’s donations. The Raffle was won by Calvin and Lyn Jewell from Bannickburn (Near Geelong, see photo).Thank you to all the helpers that sold raffle tickets through the day. We are hoping Ballan 2017 will be even better. If you can donate a half a day or the whole day, it does help the Club and our fantastic sport. See you on the flip side… Ed
