We are back onto the regular cycle of working bees following club meetings (second wed in the month). Another productive working bee was held resulting in 1) mowing (always), 2) the working out and preparation of fittings for our recently funded above ground irrigation system (thanks so much Pacific Hydro), 3) the preparation of a small slab for the new irrigation pump, 4) the pulling of power cables through the conduit laid in the last bee, and 5) finalising some work on the new roof over the container.

Close to half of the club turned up for this working bee over the course of the day which was fabulous to see. We are fortunate to have members skilled in a range of trades and with various very useful devices! The bees had plenty to do and the field is developing apace.... 1) mowing, always mowing, 2) building a third pilot box, 3) replacing the mesh barriers on all pilot boxes, 4) digging a trench from the water tanks and power to the container to lay electrical conduit and water pipe, 5) fabricating a roof on top of the container (will include an awning out the front and 6) of course chatting and drinking coffee... The crop-duster was active that morning also (wind blowing away from us!). |
