Ballan Tractor Pull & Display Day 2017

Thank you to all those Club Members that made the trip to Ballan for the annual display BMMAA put’s on. Unfortunately, the weather was not on our side with a cold morning followed by rain on and off right up to 12:00 pm when we called it. It is not something that any of us like doing, but risking models is not the way to go. We also had some horse people working on one end of our area doing a working bee. They were spoken to by the Ballan event organiser, but they decided their working bee was more important.

These people reduced the area that we would like to operate in. but with the weather the way it was, not too much flying was had. Well done to Doug who came down from Mathoura N.S.W and especially Peter (PVA) who flew in between showers. PVA continued after we had left to hold up the Club Flag and were possible, engaged with the public to answer the many questions. Good job.

We had Noel Findlay come out with one of his magnificent scale models, the Bristol Bulldog. Noel is a new Member of the Club and is a part of the World Scale Team.

The raffle was not conducted due to the above. On the bright side, we have a raffle prize for next year and the Committee has ordered good weather. Well at least we have asked…..

We did have a control line pilot from Doncaster (Bruce) who bought with him a couple of very nice models. The photos show what was on offer with once again PVA having a number of models of different sizes and types.
A big thank you to Michael Whelan who arranged a number of items and transported them to the site. I think you all know how much effort and what is needed to set up a display with Michael’s trailer carrying most of the gear that is needed including the kitchen sink. Well done.

Our Club numbers were not that high this year and it may have been because of the weather forecast. But we all need to realise this event is only held once each year and is the time were we can showcase our fantastic sport and the Club. We all know it is held in February of each year and we need to rally together.

Hope next year is better year all round for the event and we can all enjoy ourselves on the day.
